NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Actor Robert De Niro and Rapper 50 Cent are currently in the negotiation stage to possibly co-star in the new police thriller, "New Orleans."

The film is set against the backdrop of Hurricane Katrina, Robert De Niro's character believes his partner was killed in the hurricane, but soon finds that he was actually shot, said the Hollywood Reporter Thursday.

50 Cent would play De Niro's new partner who helps to investigate the murder, which leads to a world of police corruption being uncovered.

The project was originally going to be filmed in Los Angeles, but was moved to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, said the Hollywood Reporter

Filming is to begin in February in New Orleans.
