GLASGOW, Scotland, Nov. 1 (UPI) -- Scottish singer Isobel Campbell has embraced a more traditional folk sound on her new album, "Milkwhite Sheets," due for release next week.
The songwriter, who was nominated for a Mercury Prize for her early 2006 album "Ballad of the Broken Seas," decided to offer a more traditional sound on her new album -- which almost didn't see the light of day, said Billboard.com.
"After 'Ballad' was released, I wasn't sure if I wanted to release 'Milkwhite Sheets' because it was something I was making more for myself than for commercial reasons," the 30-year-old singer said.
Campbell got assistance in creating her new, more traditional, album from former Screaming Trees front man Mark Lanegan and guitarist James Iha, formerly of the Smashing Pumpkins.
Billboard.com said that while Lanegan offered up his musical talents to Campbell for the album, Iha assisted the folk singer in teaching her the value of technology and by acting as the inspiration for her track "James."
