'Fingerprints' leaves mark on horror fest

NEW YORK, Oct. 31 (UPI) -- The New York City Horror Film Festival is set to honor the terrifying film "Fingerprints" with its annual Best Feature award.

Winning the award from the annual horror festival is reportedly one of the most prestigious in film for the genre and the urban legend-inspired film will take home this year's top honor, said an Image Entertainment news release.

The film covers the urban myth that the deaths of numerous school children in a Texas train accident 50 years ago ultimately lead to their ghosts plaguing the area around the accident.

"'Fingerprints' is one of those films that creeps up on you slowly, then punches you in the gut repeatedly," The New York City Horror Film Festival director Michael Hein said. "An outstanding piece of horror."

The celebrated horror film from director Harry Basil stars actors Lou Diamond Phillips, Kristen Cavallari, Sally Kirkland and Geoffrey Lewis.
