BURBANK, Calif., Oct. 27 (UPI) -- Breakout Chicago musicians Plain White T's have received the Breaking Woodie award for Best Emerging Artists from mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network.
Plain White T's were nominated for the coveted award alongside the Arctic Monkeys, Chamillionaire, Imogen Heap and Lupe Fiasco.
The group was also reportedly nominated for the Streaming Woodie for their hit "Hey There Delilah." The Streaming Woodie honors groups with the most Internet downloads.
"The fact that the winners are based on college student votes makes this really special," said T's front man Tom Higgenson. "These kids are making their voices heard and letting us know that our music matters to them and that's just an unbelievable feeling. Thanks to everyone who voted
for us."
Plain White T's are currently on the Nintendo Fusion tour with Hawthorne Heights. The band is receiving lots of airplay on radio and TV thanks to their hit "Hate (I Really Don't Like You)."
