Elizabeth cancels another engagement

NEWMARKET, England, Oct. 27 (UPI) -- British Queen Elizabeth II, who just turned 80 and apparently still bothered by a recent injury, canceled a day at the races Friday.

The queen had been scheduled to spend the afternoon at Newmarket race course, one day after a back strain forced her out of the opening of Arsenal's new stadium.

Her cancellation at the track caused concern among some observers since horse racing is one of her favorite pastimes and, known for her robust health, she is reluctant to cancel engagements, the London Telegraph said.

The queen, however, planned to attend a lunch in her honor at the Jockey Club in Newmarket Friday.

Elizabeth has been in the midst of a hectic schedule since returning from her Scottish summer retreat, including a four-day trip to the Baltics. Photographers said she appeared slightly stooped, but otherwise showed no physical indications of discomfort.
