Springer dumped from 'Dancing'

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 25 (UPI) -- Talk show icon Jerry Springer's dancing career ended Wednesday when he was booted off the U.S. show, "Dancing with the Stars."

Springer survived six previous rounds.

"This show belongs to people who really can dance," an emotional Springer said.

He then quipped, "I think it was cruel to keep me on."

Springer, a former Cincinnati mayor, was the oldest of the contestants and camped things up since he could not physically compete with the likes of Dallas Cowboys great Emmitt Smith, and actors Mario Lopez, Joey Lawrence and Monique Coleman, the surviving contestants.

Springer said he agreed to come on the show originally so he could learn to dance before his daughter's wedding.
