NASHVILLE, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- R&B singer John Legend says he wanted to follow up his successful debut album with "something great."
The new "Once Again" follows Legend's 2004 debut, "Get Lifted," which sold more than 3 million copies worldwide and won three Grammys, including for best new artist. It also established an identity for Legend after years of featured performances on albums by his mentor, Kanye West, Lauryn Hill and others.

"I just wanted to make something better than the first album," Legend said. "I didn't write in response to ... the Grammys and selling a lot of albums. My goal as an artist was to do something better than I did the last time and make sure I'm proud of every song.
"It's that easy -- and hard, man. It's hard."
