NEW YORK, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Broadway icon Angela Lansbury reportedly is returning to the Broadway stage next spring for the first time in 23 years.
The Tony-winning star of such 1960s and '70s hits as "Mame" and "Sweeney Todd," will star opposite Marian Seldes in Terrance McNally's new play "Deuces" at the Music Box, the New York Post said Monday.
The play, about two retired tennis players who once made up a championship doubles team, opens on May 6.
Lansbury hasn't been on stage since 1984 when she launched the television series "Murder, She Wrote."
Lansbury and McNally go back a few years. She had planned to star in his 2000 production of "The Visit," but withdrew when her husband, Peter Shaw, fell ill.
Seldes, herself a Tony winner, told the newspaper she liked the script of "Deuces" because it portrayed women who were up in years, but weren't invalids or stricken with senility.
