Heather Mills alleges more spousal abuse

LONDON, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Former Beatle Paul McCartney's estranged wife alleges in England he not only abused her, but also abused his first wife.

The new allegations by former model Heather Mills have added fuel to what has already become fiery divorce proceedings, and caused sources close to both McCartney and his first wife Linda to strongly rebut the claims, said The Sunday Mail.

"That's nonsense. I haven't said anything about Paul since all this blew up but I can't let that pass," said writer Carla Lane, who was one of Linda's closest friends. "I was very close to Linda and I know she would have confided in me if anything like that had happened. It's just not true."

Some said the allegations were a hostile attempt by Heather Mills to discredit the former Beatle, and flew in the face of the public's memories of the famously happy couple, the Mail said.

"Everyone knows, and it goes without saying, that Paul and Linda had one of the happiest marriages in show business," McCartney's former publicist Geoff Baker told the paper. "In my opinion, Heather Mills is now making a bid to become the vilest woman in Britain."
