LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Someone viewers love to hate has become a basic plot staple of U.S. reality television, Foxnews.com says.
A commentary on the Web site this week pointed out that most, if not all, reality shows airing this fall have a character who is as interesting as he or she is loathsome.

Foxnews.com contended that such shows become a little less appealing when the irksome individuals are voted off or otherwise dropped from the contest.
One exception is "Dancing with the Stars," which features "only sweet, happy, sweating celebrities with nary an obnoxious person in sight."
