Famed KISS concert revisited in new film

NEW YORK, Oct. 17 (UPI) -- KISS fans nationwide will be able to watch the band's famous Detroit concert in the new film "KISS Alive! On the Big Screen."

The film, which captures the rock band's 1976 concert at Detroit's Cobo Hall, will be presented at a limited number of U.S. theaters on Oct. 26 for one night only, all in its original format, a National Cinemedia news release said.

The featured footage also will show the events at the corresponding KISS Day in Cadillac, Mich., and allow fans a glimpse into the historical rock and roll lives of KISS' Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Ace Frehley and Peter Criss.

Five days after the nationwide event on Halloween day, a 2-disc DVD set entitled "KISSology Vol. 1 1974-1977" will be released by VH1 Classic and allow further glimpses into the famed rockers' lives on the road.

"KISS truly took rock and roll to new heights. Music fans will witness how high on this special night as well as on the upcoming 'KISSology Volume 1' release, presented by VH1 Classic," VH1 Classic exec Eric Sherman said. "And as a card-carrying member of the KISS Army since I was 15, I'm personally excited to see the band on the big screen."
