Pitt and Jolie donate to Pearl Foundation

ENCINO, Calif., Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Hollywood couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie made a donation of $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation, People magazine reported.

The foundation is named after the late Wall Street Journal reporter, who was kidnapped and killed in Pakistan in 2002.

The gift was made through the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, a recently formed organization that helps families around the world who are affected by HIV/AIDS and poverty.

The donation was presented Tuesday, which reportedly would have been Pearl's 43rd birthday.

"On this day our thoughts go out to Danny's family," Pitt and Jolie said in a statement released by their representative Trevor Neilson.

Pitt and Jolie are currently in India filming a biopic of Pearl written by his widow, Mariane Pearl.
