PARIS, Oct. 7 (UPI) -- The fashion world had a scare this week when design icon Yves St. Laurent collapsed on a Paris street.

People magazine said St. Laurent was released after treatment, although the cause of the incident Thursday remained unknown.

The 70-year-old St. Laurent went down outside his Avenue Montaigne boutique just hours after his show during Paris' fashion week.

St. Laurent retired from personal design work in 2002 after 40 years in the high-fashion world that were noted as much for his presence on the celebrity circuit as for his designs.
