Kevin Costner back in court over casino

SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Oct. 4 (UPI) -- South Dakota Supreme Court justices listened to Kevin Costner's lawyers Wednesday, over whether or not Costner's Midnight Star casino is worth $6 million.

Costner, who owns a majority of the casino, wants to buy out Francis and Carla Caneva, who own the rest, KELO-TV reported Wednesday.

They managed the casino for 14 years, until Costner fired them, and now he wants to break up the partnership altogether. The actor also claims that a lower court judge made a mistake when he put a $6 million value on the casino, which leads to the debate that is now up to the South Dakota Supreme Court.

The $6 million was offered by another casino owner to buy out the Midnight Star, but Costner's lawyers argue just because someone makes an offer, doesn't mean that's what it's worth.

Based on an appraisal, Costner's lawyers say the Midnight Star is worth $3 million, but the Caneva's lawyers dispute that, saying Costner put over six million dollars into the casino.
