LaBelle, Chrysler team up for U.S. tour

DALLAS, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- U.S. singer Patti LaBelle and the Chrysler Corp. are set to join forces for "The Gospel According to Patti" tour.

Pollstar.com reported that the U.S. national tour, which begins Saturday in Dallas, will be paired with pre-concert dates nationwide at which Chrysler will offer test drives of its vehicles to help raise funds for LaBelle's charity, the University of Pennsylvania's Abramson Cancer Center.

With Chrysler donating $5 per test drive to the cancer research center, the hybrid tour is aiming its focus at educating the African-American community about the advantages that surround early medical attention and treatment, the report said.

The seven cities scheduled to host the test drive events for the automobile company are Chicago, Landover, Md., Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Atlanta and Los Angeles.

The Web site said that tickets for the U.S. tour dates are available at pattilabellegospel.com and fans of the 62-year-old singer can watch for her first gospel album which is due for release on Nov. 21.
