LONDON, Oct. 2 (UPI) -- Actress Kate Winslet has decided to take a break from acting to spend more time with her family.
Winslet made her decision to take a year off after she played a disconnected mother in a film called "Little Children," the Daily Mail reported Monday.

She stars as Sarah Pierce in the film, a mother who is entirely disconnected, both emotionally and physically, from her child.
"It was very trying to play a mother who basically couldn't feel close to or look after the needs of her child," Winslet told the Daily Mail.
"It was disturbing to put myself into that woman's head and it made me all the more aware of my own responsibilities as a mother."
Winslet is also celebrating her 31st birthday this week.
