"Jericho," which came in second for the adults 25-54 demographic, received CBS's best opening for a new show since "Star Search" in 2003.

ABC also did well with its "Dancing With the Stars" results show and a special edition of "20/20," but NBC dropped the ball with its second airing of "Kidnapped," Daily Variety said.

"Jericho," which had a strong ratings share in adults 18-49 and 11.47 million viewers overall rose 6 percent from its debut, placed second in most categories and won in key male demographics, the newspaper said, adding that first place went to ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" results show which had 15.81 million viewers.
