Warner said closing online content unit

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 28 (UPI) -- Warner Bros. is reportedly closing down one of its earliest online entertainment ventures as part of the Hollywood studio's company-wide economy move.

The Los Angeles Times said Thursday that 19 jobs would be cut in the elimination of Warner Bros. Online, which was launched in the 1990s as one of the first studio ventures involving original online content.

Although it enjoyed initial success, Warner Bros. Online saw its resources squeezed following Time Warner's merger with AOL, the Times said, citing studio insiders.

Production of Warner's original Web content will be shifted to its movie and television divisions.
