'View' co-hosts defend S.E. Cupp over Hustler photo
NEW YORK, Sept. 26 (UPI) -- CBS' venerable "60 Minutes" led the pack with four awards during the 27th News and Documentary Emmys ceremony in New York.
In the network race, CBS and PBS each took five Emmys overall while The History Channel followed with four. ABC tied with The National Geographic Channel with three while NBC and CNN each received two awards in ceremonies Monday.
Bill Moyers of PBS received the Lifetime Achievement Award and the Committee to Protect Journalists, The International Press Institute and Reporters Without Borders were honored for their efforts to defend press freedom worldwide.
Some of the other individual winners included "NBC Nightly News" for its coverage of Hurricane Katrina and CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360" for a feature about New Orleans' Charity Hospital.
The last major project from the "World News Tonight" anchor Peter Jennings, "Iraq: Where Things Stand," won two Emmys.
The 27th Annual News and Documentary Awards will air on C-Span at a date to be announced.
