NEW YORK, Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Usher's run on Broadway has been extended until Oct. 14 after the singer showed he had what it takes as Billy Flynn in the musical "Chicago."
The day after the R&B star debuted as Billy Flynn, the smooth talking lawyer, the ticket sales for "Chicago" quintupled, bringing in $200,000, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.
When Usher arrived on his opening night, Aug. 22, hundreds of fans lined the street to see him.
Even the critics have given Usher a good review, "Smoke and mirrors have nothing on this seductively undulating whiz kid," wrote The Post's Clive Barnes, while admitting that from an acting standpoint, Usher was "at present hardly Laurence Olivier."
