No settlement reached in Eminem's divorce

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich., Sept. 19 (UPI) -- Attorneys in Mount Clemens, Mich., were unable to reach a settlement Tuesday in the divorce of rapper Eminem and his estranged wife, Kim Mathers.

The Detroit News reported the couple arrived at Macomb Circuit Court separately and met privately with their attorneys in Chief Judge Antonio Viviano's chambers. Neither Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, or his wife appeared in open court.

"The parties have had discussions. We are hopeful that this matter will be amicably resolved," said Harvey Hauer, attorney for Eminem. "Mr. Mathers' sole concern is the well being of his children."

Eminem's second marriage to Kim ended just 82 days after a ceremony on Jan. 14, 2006.

"What she really wants is what is best for her children," said Mike Smith, attorney for Kim Mathers. "The parties are amicable."

Kim Mathers declined to comment.
