Satirical Borat promotes film in New York

NEW YORK, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- The satirical character Borat Sagdiyev, played by comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, visited New York this week to promote his self-titled film.

Riding in the trunk of a cab, Sagdiyev made his first public New York appearance Wednesday as part of Cohen's ongoing attempt to draw attention to his new U.S. film, "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan," said the New York Post.

In "Borat," Cohen expands on the fictional Kazakhstan journalist he created for his HBO series, "The Ali G Show," by taking the outspoken and tactless character on a trip across America.

The film, which also stars Pamela Anderson and Ken Davitan, is due in U.S. theaters Nov. 3.
