NEW YORK, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- One half of the 1960s duo, Sam and Dave -- Sam Moore -- is recording his first U.S. album in 20 years.
Moore recorded "Overnight Sensational" on Rhino with producer "American Idol" judge Randy Jackson. The CD features duets with Steve Winwood, the late Billy Preston and Bruce Springsteen, CNN reported.
"Randy really does get it," Moore said.
He broke up with musical partner Dave Prater in 1969 after having hits like "Hold On, I'm Comin'," "You Don't Know Like I Know," "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby," and "I Thank You."
Moore tried to make records with other producers over the years, but didn't like their attitudes.
"I felt so comfortable when I walked into (Jackson's) office," Moore recalled. "He said, 'Let the lawyers deal with the (legal issues) -- let's you and me do some music.'" Jackson used to play bass for Journey.
If Moore was out of tune, Jackson would call him up and tell him to get back to the studio, CNN reported.
"That's what I call a producer," Moore said.
"His thing was, '(Somebody would say) that was good,'" Moore recalled. "But he'd say, 'Yeah, but he's still flat.'"
