New documentary zooms in on Al Franken

NEW YORK, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- Comedian Al Franken, who does a daily talk radio show from his home state of Minnesota, says he's pleased with the new documentary film about him.

Filmmakers Nick Doob and Chris Hegedus followed Franken for two years, chronicling his battles against prominent right-wing figures in U.S. politics.

"Al Franken: God Spoke" combines footage of the former "Saturday Night Live" cast member, best-selling author and Air America radio host as he feuds with Ann Coulter, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity, TV Guide reported.

When the producers of "The War Room" asked if they could film Franken, he says he was flattered -- but then he realized they would follow his every move. He says he was pleased when he saw the result.

"But when I looked at the film, I went, 'I'm a great person. Funny, smart, nice to people ... a real great guy!'"
