'View' co-hosts defend S.E. Cupp over Hustler photo
NEW YORK, Sept. 14 (UPI) -- After declaring that "The Black Album" would be the last album of his career, rapper Jay Z is set to return to the U.S. music industry with "Kingdom Come."
The New York Post reported that the rapper, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, will release his first album since he retired in 2002 later this fall and it will feature contributions from several industry heavyweights.
Joining the Def Jam Recordings president on "Kingdom Come" will be fellow rap and hip-hop stars Dr. Dre, Timbaland and Kayne West, along with singer Chris Martin from the British rock band Coldplay.
"He sent me these beautiful chords for this song called 'Beach Chair,'" the Brooklyn rapper said of Martin's donation to his album.
The Post said that during his retirement from the music industry, the 36-year-old was anything but having joined Linkin Park and R. Kelly on recent albums, toured with R.Kelly, and performed at Radio City Music Hall.
"It was the worst retirement, maybe, in history," the rap star confessed in a recent magazine interview.
