Princess Beatrice and an ex-friend battle

CHOBHAM, England, Sept. 10 (UPI) -- The parents of a teen who was struck in the face by Princess Beatrice are requesting an apology from the Duke and Duchess of York.

Brooke Burfitt-Dons was 9 when her friend Beatrice swung a coat at her head, smashing her front teeth with the zipper, at Coworth Park Prep School in Chobham, Surrey, the Daily Mail reported.

Burfit-Don's parents said one tooth snapped off at the stump, leaving sensitive nerve exposed. Three others were reportedly chipped to the point that they required emergency care.

Brooke's father, Don, said his daughter still suffers after the 1999 incident.

"The Duchess of York phoned us a few times suggesting a meeting to sort it all out, but that hasn't happened," Brooke's father said. "We have been patient but this has gone on long enough. We are going to write one more formal letter requesting settlement before taking legal advice."

Brooke and Beatrice were reportedly once good friends, but have drifted apart in recent years.
