LONDON, Sept. 6 (UPI) -- British rock legend Jeff Beck is happy to be playing his old songs again on his latest North American tour.

After nearly two decades of playing instrumental music, Beck is touring again with a singer and including songs in his show from the late '60s and early '70s Jeff Beck Group, which at one point featured Rod Stewart as lead singer.

Beck says that the shows are "like a mini life story on stage," but the audience is loving it.

"The people that remember the early stuff are like kids in the candy store," he says. "They hear it and light up, and that radiates to the people that haven't heard it rather than just blinding them with nonsensical techno stuff."

Beck begins a new tour Wednesday in Clearwater, Fla. He plans to make a new album -- his first since 2003's "Jeff" -- after the tour ends in early October.
