MONTICELLO, Ind., Sept. 5 (UPI) -- Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young are using alternative fuel to power the fleet they are using to travel the United States for their "Freedom of Speech" tour.
The rockers' caravan became the first customers Saturday of the new Biotown Project gas station serving up the fuel B-20 in Reynolds, Ind., the West Lafayette (Ind.) Journal & Courier reported Tuesday.
"I drive a flexfuel vehicle," David Crosby told the newspaper. "And on this tour we have 11 buses and eight semis that all run on B-20. I think it's much better to produce our fuel here and give our money to American farmers then it is to send it to Saudi Arabia where they don't even like us."
Good Oil of Winamac, Ind., produces B-20 by processing soybeans into biodiesel, which in turn is combined with typical diesel fuel to produce the federally approved alternative fuel.
The rockers said an ABC News story tipped them about the Biotown Project and they took a detour traveling from Chicago to Indianapolis to show their support.
