NEW ORLEANS, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- The New Orleans district attorney called the questions being asked on ABC News "Nightline" stupid and abruptly walked out of the TV interview.
Eddie Jordan ended the interview Monday after ABC News reporter Brian Ross questioned his performance in office, the Times-Picayune of New Orleans said Wednesday.
U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales was shown on the program saying: "You need to have an effective police department, you need to have the courts operating effectively, you need to have a local prosecutor who is doing his job."
After showing the clip, Ross turned to Jordan and asked: "Do you think he's talking about you?"
Jordan said his office was doing its job, and added, "I have the evidence to support it," the newspaper said.
But when Ross followed up by asking if Gonzales' statement could be considered "criticism from Washington," Jordan's aide announced the interview was over.
"The questions are stupid," Jordan said.
