LOS ANGELES, Aug. 27 (UPI) -- "America's oldest living teenager," Dick Clark, was feted for his accomplishments in music and TV during Sunday's Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles.

Clark's is one of the few names recognizable to generations of TV viewers, "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell noted in introducing Clark.

Clark -- who suffered a stroke in late 2004 -- said he accomplished his "childhood dream" with his show business career.

"Everyone should be so blessed," he said.

Barry Manilow -- who sang and co-wrote the theme to Clark's long-running "American Bandstand" -- delayed his double-hip replacement surgery to perform a musical tribute to the producer on the Emmys telecast.

"Tomorrow they rip me apart and put me back together again," Manilow told "Access Hollywood's" Billy Bush during NBC's pre-ceremony special.
