NEW YORK, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Comedian Jackie Mason has filed a lawsuit in New York against Jews for Jesus over the organization's use of his image in a pamphlet.
Mason, a former rabbi, was incensed after the controversial group put a caricature of him in one of its pamphlets, making it appear as though the comic supported the organization, the New York Daily News reported.
The 75-year-old comedian -- who has highlighted his political incorrectness through his comedy -- is seeking $2 million in the lawsuit.
"The pamphlet makes it appear as though I myself am a proponent of the group's theories of religion," said Mason.
The "Caddyshack II" star, who in the past has supported the Jews against Anti-Christian Defamation group, was set to appear Friday in Manhattan Supreme Court to argue his case.
A spokeswoman for Jews for Jesus has said the pamphlet was merely good-natured and that the organization was prepared to defend itself against the lawsuit, the newspaper said.
