LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- "Wimbledon" actor Austin Nichols has joined the HBO production of "John from Cincinnati Meets the Surfing Yosts," taking on the U.S. series' title role.

The 26-year-old actor will join with executive producer David Milch, who created the HBO original series "Deadwood," and director Mark Tinker on the set of the California surfing drama next month in Los Angeles, said Variety.

Nichols recently completed his role as Morgan Earp on Milch's western drama and has also previously worked with HBO on its former series "Six Feet Under."

Variety said that joining Nichols in the new drama's cast will be actors Luis Guzman, Brian Van Holt, and Bruce Greenwood.
