Aug. 24, 2006 at 8:09 PM

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Actor Jeremy Renner, who played a gay serial killer in "Dahmer," is set to play a London zombie in "28 Weeks Later," a horror film produced by Danny Boyle.

The movie is a sequel to a 2002 movie, "28 Days Later," in which almost the entire population of England dies from a plague called "Rage." In this installment the U.S. Special Forces attempt to revive London, but the virus is still alive and causes people to begin attacking each other again.

Renner is cast as Sgt. Doyle in "28 Weeks Later," Daily Variety reported. Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is directing the script written by Rowan Joffe.

In addition to his leading role as Jeffrey Dahmer, Renner has appeared in "S.W.A.T.," "North Country" and "Lords of Dogtown." His next film, "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford" is to be released in 2007.
