Braugher drops 'ER' for 'Fantastic Four'

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- TV veteran Andre Braugher has opted out of a guest spot on the series "ER" this season, choosing instead to join the Hollywood sequel of "The Fantastic Four."

The "Homicide: Life on the Street" actor chose to join the cast of the upcoming superhero film sequel, "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer," rather than engage in a scheduled guest-star turn on the popular medical TV series, said TV Guide.

Taking the place of the 44-year-old actor for the "ER" role will be film actor Forest Whitaker, whose last TV role was on FX's police drama "The Shield" earlier this year.

TV Guide also said that "Freaks and Geeks" TV actor Busy Philipps has been slated for a role in four episodes of "ER" in the upcoming 14th season. "ER" is now NBC's second-longest running dramatic series after "Law & Order."
