NEW YORK, Aug. 23 (UPI) -- Grammy-winning singer and dancer Usher drew rave reviews for his Broadway debut as lawyer Billy Flynn in the musical "Chicago."
"I'm happy I had a great show. I'm happy to be on Broadway and sing and dance. I enjoyed it," Usher, whose full name is Usher Raymond, told Wednesday's New York Daily News.
Usher's first preview performance Monday night boasted a number of celebrities in the packed house, the newspaper said.
"He's got charm for days," was the assessment from actress Gabrielle Union. "If any man can charm a woman out of her jail cell and out of her clothes, it's Usher."
The New York Post said Usher's patented dance moves kept the crowd entranced and thoroughly entertained.
The "Burn" singer will make his official Broadway debut Sept. 6 and will remain with the show for six weeks.
