MUNICH, Germany, Aug. 20 (UPI) -- Conductor, composer and pianist Andre Previn has ended his marriage to violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter, The Mail on Sunday says.
The quiet divorce, which took place in Previn's hometown of Munich, Germany, is said to have been caused by the 34-year age difference between 77-year old Previn and 43-year old Mutter.
A source at the Berlin Philharmonic said, "She is a lady with a full social and business itinerary, and word was that he got left behind because he couldn't keep up."
Mutter is one of the most sought-after soloists in the world. She was previously married to lawyer Detlef Wundelich, almost 30 years her senior, with whom she had a son and a daughter. Wundelich died in 1995 of cancer.
This latest divorce marks the end of Previn's fifth marriage.
