Imagen Awards honor Latino actors

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- The winners of the annual Imagen Awards, which honor the accomplishments of Latinos in television and film, have been announced in Beverly Hills, Calif.

Antonio Banderas was named best actor for "The Lost City," while America Ferrara won best actress for her role in "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants."

Andy Garcia won best director for "Lost City" and "My Backyard Mountain" was best short film.

In the television category, "West Wing" was best series. Acting awards went to Michael Pena, best actor for the HBO film "Walkout," Lisa Vidal for Lifetime's "Odd Girl Out," Raymond Cruz, best supporting actor, and Cota de Pablo, best supporting actress.

Emmy winning director-choreographer Kenny Ortega received Imagen's Creative Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the industry.

The Friday gala in Beverly Hills was hosted by Lorenzo Lamas.
