PHOENIX, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The new teen TV drama "Hidden Palms" is set in Palm Springs, Calif., but will be filmed mainly at Hollywood Phoenix Studios in Arizona.

The series, which likely will premiere mid-season on the CW network, will film at the Arizona location due to tax incentives offered by the state and for the right-to-work law that eliminates union restrictions, the Arizona Republic said.

"We're excited to have these types of projects come into the valley, especially a series, because each episode brings jobs into Arizona," said Arizona Department of Commerce spokesman David Drennon.

"Palms" revolves around 15-year-old Johnny Miller, played by Michael Cassidy, who moves to Palm Springs after his father's suicide and slowly begins to question the motives of his neighbors.

Joining Cassidy for the mid-season replacement show will be actors Ellary Porterfield, D.W. Moffet, Gail O'Grady, Taylor Handley, Amber Heard and Sharon Lawrence.
