SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Fess Parker, 82, a 1960s U.S. role model for kids, will be recalled with "Daniel Boone" show reruns on TV Land as well as the release of his series on DVD.

TV Land will present a "Daniel Boone" marathon on Aug. 25, showing re-runs for two full days, the company said in a press release. TV Land is considering a two-year contract for syndication rights of the popular show that made Parker a living legend.

The actor also starred in the Walt Disney TV show and movie, "Davy Crockett," which aired in the 1950s. One of Parker's original coonskin caps is displayed in the Smithsonian National Museum of American History.

Parker and his family own a winery and vineyard in Santa Barbara County, Calif., which is run by his son Eli Parker. Three wines made by Fess Parker Winery and Epiphany Cellars made it to the San Francisco International Wine Competition's sweepstakes this year.
