LOS ANGELES, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard is in talks to join the cast of the film adaptation of Marvel Comics' "Iron Man," it was reported in Hollywood.
Howard is up for the key role of Jim Rhodes, MTV.com reported. In the comic, Rhodes began as the best friend of Tony Stark, Iron Man's alter ego, but later became a reincarnation of the armored hero and ultimately became the superhero, War Machine.
Howard -- whose film credits include "Crash," "Hustle & Flow" and "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" -- stopped short of confirming he is up for the part.
"Mayyy-bee," he told MTV.com. "It's something I'm trying to fully consider. Action is a whole 'nother animal. The CGI and special effects, that's a whole 'nother thing. Playing to green screen or blue screen, I've never done that. I want to accomplish it and do it well. I don't want to do anything and not do it well."
