LOS ANGELES, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Actor Johnny Depp and director Tim Burton are set for their sixth Hollywood collaboration with the film adaptation of the Broadway musical "Sweeney Todd."
Depp will star in the title role in the film version of Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning musical.
Depp and Burton most recently worked together on "Corpse Bride" and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory."
The have also collaborated on "Edward Scissorhands," "Ed Wood" and "Sleepy Hollow."
"Sweeney Todd" is the story of a Victorian barber who seeks revenge in England against those who had him falsely imprisoned.
Filming of the John Logan-scripted film adaptation is expected to begin early next year. The project is tentatively scheduled for a late-2007 release, DreamWorks said in a press release.
