WASHINGTON, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- The video game "Star Trek: Legacy" from Bethesda Softworks in Maryland will be first project from the sci-fi legacy that stars all five "Star Trek" captains.
"Legacy," which will be available on PC and Xbox 360 this fall, will feature pixilated versions of all five fictional captains that have helmed "Star Trek" ships as part of the popular series' 40th anniversary celebration, said E! Online.
William Shatner, who rose to fame as Capt. James T. Kirk in the series' original incarnation, said he was pleased to participate in the game and hoped it would spark interest in the dormant franchise.
"It's been around a long time, it's a staple of American life and I think we need something new and different," said Shatner. "I couldn't imagine someone else playing Capt. Kirk, even in a videogame, so I kind of got a little territorial."
The Web site said Avery Brooks of "Deep Space Nine," Scott Bakula of "Enterprise," Kate Mulgrew of "Voyager," and "Next Generation" star Patrick Stewart, would join Shatner on the video game.
