Actress Jones being sued over former home

LONDON, Aug. 16 (UPI) -- Actress Grace Jones has been hit with a lawsuit alleging the former model trashed a London apartment she had vacated earlier this year.

The owners of Jones' former $2.8 million apartment in London's Chelsea Crescent, John and Rosalind Preston, are suing the "A View to a Kill" actress for allegedly causing nearly $19,000 in damage before she moved out in February, said the Daily Mail.

In addition, the suit claims that Jones owes the couple over $10,000 in back rent, $3,300 in legal fees and $223 for a lock change -- and demanding that she replace a number of spoons that had apparently been damaged by flames.

"The defendant failed to deliver the property in a tenable state," said the suit, filed on May 18. "Many of the fixtures and fittings were either missing, broken or rendered unusable as a result of being impregnated with cigarette smoke."

The 58-year-old actress moved into the nearly $76,000-a-year apartment in 2003, nearly 11 years after declaring bankruptcy for over $1.3 million in debts.

Jones' agent Michael Schweiger told the Mail his client is completely innocent of the allegations in the suit.
