Rapper Lil' Wayne arrested on drug charges

ATLANTA, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- Rapper Lil' Wayne has been arrested on drug charges in Atlanta, Ga., police reported.

The New Orleans resident born Dwayne Michael Carter was charged Monday with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, purchase of a controlled substance and other, minor offenses, AllHipHop.com reported Teusday.

The rap star was released on bond from the Fulton County Jail later in the day.

Lil' Wayne was scheduled to begin a tour with Dem Franchize Boyz on Thursday in Cincinnati.
