Jackson defends 'Snakes' release strategy

NEW YORK, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Samuel L. Jackson says there was no reason to screen "Snakes On A Plane" for critics, since the title tells them everything they need about the U.S. film.

Although the movie, which opens Friday, has not been screened for journalists and critics, it has created enormous buzz on the Internet and at comic-book conventions.

"I haven't seen it," Jackson told UPI in New York Monday.

"I know you guys want to see it and say things about it, but what the hell is there to say? It's snakes on a plane!" he said. "We've got a great, poisonous snake that's kind of vicious because they've got pheromones -- like snakes on crack; they're attacking anything that they see and you've got victims that are likable, hateable, whatever."

Jackson said the film's suspense comes from waiting to see who falls victim to the slithering stowaways: the pilot, the flight crew, the rapper and his bodyguard, the kids, the pregnant woman or the Chihuahua-toting debutante.

"There's no way for it to be bad, as long as people die on the plane and snakes get killed in an exciting way," he quipped.
