LOS ANGELES, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- Heiress Paris Hilton was treated at a Los Angeles hospital after her pet kinkajou bit her on the arm while the two were playing.

The attack by Baby Love, Hilton's rainforest mammal, earned the "Simple Life" star a trip to the emergency room and a tetanus shot early Tuesday morning. She was discharged the same night, "Entertainment Tonight" said.

The incident is the second for the heiress involving Baby Love since the California Department of Fish and Game issued her a warning for illegally transporting the animal to Los Angeles.

Kinkajous, native to Central and South America, are known both for their playful nature and their occasional spontaneous attacks on other animals.

The mammals are illegal to own in Los Angeles, said "Entertainment Tonight."
