ATLANTA, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- After being cited near Atlanta last month for speeding, rapper Young City was arrested in connection with an outstanding armed robbery charge.

AllHipHop.com said the rapper, whose real name is Kevin Barnes, was cited for exceeding the speed limit by Gwinnett County authorities on July 31, and held after police discovered he was wanted in Baltimore for an alleged armed robbery.

Barnes, who lives in Atlanta, has denied he is guilty of any crime and has said he is merely a victim of profiling and harassment by the local police.

Nomad Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Filthy Phil accused the Gwinnett County police of holding his company's recording star for over a week without bond and without proper notification.

"What is so disturbing about the whole situation is that family and friends were not made aware that he was being detained for four days," Phil told the Web site.

Barnes, whose newest album is due out next January, is being held in the Atlanta suburb until he can be extradited to face the robbery charges in Baltimore.
