'World Trade Center' not welcomed by all

NEW YORK, Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Some people will not be persuaded to go out and see Oliver Stone's new film "World Trade Center," the New York Daily News said Wednesday.

The film opened Thursday after previews for first responders and Sept. 11 victims' relatives and some people say it is too soon after the 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, the newspaper said.

Monica Gabrielle, who lost her husband in the attack on New York's World Trade Center said: "Having lived through the horror of the day and its aftermath, I don't feel the need to sit in a theater and watch a reenactment," Gabrielle told the Daily News.

Jack Lynch's son Michael was one of the 343 New York firefighters lost in the attack. He declined an invitation to a screening for family members.

"I realize movies will have to be made, given the magnitude of the event," he said. "But I'd rather see a documentary, rather than how Hollywood portrays what happened."

Meanwhile, gambling Web sites have been taking bets on whether or not "World Trade Center" will make the base $27.5 million in ticket sales opening weekend.
