FRANKLIN, Tenn., Aug. 9 (UPI) -- Country Music Television's "Cross Country" taping with singers Merle Haggard and George Jones was postponed indefinitely this week in Franklin, Tenn.
The Nashville Tennessean reported that the two country singers were forced to cancel their Wednesday taping after Haggard had to return to the West Coast for unspecified reasons.
While the exact nature of Wednesday's "unforeseen circumstances" was not detailed, Haggard's publicist Susan Nadler said the "Chill Factor" singer looks forward to reuniting with Jones, with whom he recently recorded the album "Kicking Out the Footlights ... Again."
"George is really anxious to do it," said the Bandit Records publicist. "And the sessions turned out great."
"Kicking Out" features Haggard singing five of Jones' hits, the "High Tech Redneck" singer offering five renditions of Haggard songs, and four duets between the country stars.
The paper said no date has been set for the "Cross Country" taping.
