NEW YORK, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- The Public Broadcasting Service is taking some criticism over its firing of the host of "The Good Night Show."
The PBS Kids Sprout Network fired Melanie Martinez after learning that she had appeared two years ago in a spoof on public service announcements, or PSAs, advocating sexual abstinence in teenagers, The New York Times said.
"The Good Night Show" is a block of evening shows that includes "Dragon Tales," "Bob the Builder" and "Thomas and Friends." As host, Martinez introduced cartoons and featured arts and crafts between shows.
Martinez, a 34-year old New York actress and mother of a 3-year old, hosted "The Good Night Show" for two seasons.
Martinez is accused of withholding information about the spoofs on her resume, The Times said.
"I've done lots of roles and worn many costumes," said Martinez, a classically trained actress. "I did not think a spoof PSA would come up like this again."
